U.S. Secret Service officers arrested a Venezuelan illegal alien outside the White House Thursday night after he told them voices in his head had sent him to Washington to kill President Donald Trump — and after they found an AR-15–style rifle, a Mac 10, a Glock 43X and dozens of rounds of ammunition in a stolen truck on Constitution Avenue.

The Department of Homeland Security named the suspect Friday as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, 26. DHS said he illegally entered through Texas in March 2024, was arrested by Border Patrol, and was then released into the country by the Biden administration. After Thursday’s arrest, ICE lodged a detainer with the U.S. Marshals Service, which has him in custody.

Voices, a stolen truck, three guns

DHS said Secret Service officers approached Chrinos Thursday evening when they saw him acting suspiciously in a vehicle parked on Constitution Avenue near the White House. When they confronted him, he said he heard voices telling him to come to Washington, D.C., and kill Trump.

Officers then learned the vehicle had been reported stolen. Chrinos admitted he had weapons inside. A search turned up three firearms — including a rifle — and dozens of rounds of ammunition. DHS released photos of the seized AR-15–style rifle, Mac 10 and Glock 43X, along with Chrinos’s booking photo.

A Secret Service police officer affidavit filed in court, described by NBC News, adds that Chrinos was asleep in a parked blue Ford F-150 when officers woke him at 11:42 p.m. Thursday. Officers first treated it as a welfare check; Chrinos used Google Translate to say he had weapons he wanted to turn over, the affidavit says. Prosecutors are reviewing the case and he is due in federal court Monday, NBC reported, citing a federal law-enforcement source.

Mullin: he had no business being here

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin credited the Secret Service with stopping the threat before anyone was hurt.

“Thanks to our brave Secret Service officers, this illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle was arrested near the White House before he could harm anyone,” Mullin said in the DHS release. “On top of threatening President Trump, he is an illegal alien from Venezuela who had no business being in our country in the first place.”

On 𝕏, Mullin repeated the point and stressed the Biden-era release:

“On top of threatening President Trump, he is an illegal alien from Venezuela who was RELEASED into our country by the Biden administration,” Mullin’s post said. “He had NO business being in our country in the first place.”

Secret Service Director Sean Curran said the arrest reflects “the heightened threat environment” and “the continued number of armed individuals who are drawn to the White House complex,” and that the agency is “alarmed by the increase in threat cases that continue to arise.”

Charges and ICE detainer

DHS said Chrinos was charged with carrying a rifle outside a home or business; three counts of unlawful transportation of a firearm; three counts of unregistered firearms; three counts of unregistered ammunition; possession of certain dangerous weapons; carrying a pistol without a license; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; theft; and receiving stolen property.

ICE’s detainer means immigration officers want him held for removal proceedings after the criminal case — the opposite of the catch-and-release path that put him on Constitution Avenue in the first place.

Fox News’s Bill Melugin first reported DHS’s confirmation Thursday–Friday with the agency’s mugshot and weapons photos:

Bottom line: A Biden-released Venezuelan illegal alien sat armed in a stolen truck outside the White House and told Secret Service voices sent him to kill Trump. Officers stopped him. ICE put a detainer on him. The March 2024 release is why he was free to try.
